Founder and leading Pediatric Dentist Dr. Henry Martinez, DMD, opened Big Apple Pediatric Dentistry in May 2022 with a vision of creating an enjoyable dental experience for patients and parents alike.

Dr. Martinez is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He has also obtained fellowship in the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Martinez currently serves on staff at Chandler Regional Medical Center and Phoenix Children’s Hospital. He is also a clinical director for the Special Smiles program within the Special Olympics of Arizona.
Kayla is from Oregon and moved to Arizona to start her career in Dental Assisting 4 years ago. Kayla started her dental career working in endodontics, before finding a love for Pediatric Dentistry. Kayla is great with children and goes above and beyond, making sure her patients are comfortable and relaxed. On the weekends Kayla and her husband enjoy playing disc golf and taking their two dogs to the park.
Jasmine started her dental career six years ago in general dentistry. She is excited to now be working in pediatric dentistry. She loves working with children and loves to provide a fun and positive environment! When you can’t find Jasmine at work, you can probably find her at Disneyland with her boyfriend or lounging on the beach! She is very knowledgeable on Disney and enjoys talking Disney with all her patients!

At Big Apple Pediatric Dentistry, we are passionate about giving back to our community. For every new patient that enters our office, we make a donation to the MinMin Bear Foundation, providing teddy bears to children undergoing treatment for kidney disease.
Providing patients with comfort is one of the most important jobs we have here at the foundation, and our mascots, the MinMinBears, take this assignment very seriously. Our goal is to provide a sense of peace for the patient and their family during any part of their journey. Whether it’s a hospital stay, medical procedure, doctor’s appointment,  or anything in between, our MinMinBears are ready to bring solace, empathy, and support.Â
Our goal in designing this space was to make kids of all ages feel welcome. The theme of our office is New York City and features a fun, colorful design throughout the space. In addition to the fun look of our office, we also have amenities to make visiting the dentist more enjoyable for children.
🍎A good first experience is very important to us, so we have an infant room designed for our youngest patients. This space is designed to make the child feel calm and relaxed, away from the sounds of the dentist’s office. In this space, the child can play and explore while we talk with the parents about their child’s dental health.Â
🍎Our lobby area has children’s books about going to the dentist, such as Clifford Goes to the Dentist and Bluey Goes to the Dentist, so parents can prepare their child for their visit. Additionally, we are the only pediatric dental office in Arizona with a little toilet and sink in the patient bathroom for our littlest patients to use.
🍎We also have TV screens above each dental chair so children can watch their favorite movie while getting their teeth cleaned and examined. We offer kid-friendly toothpaste flavors and “vitamins” (fluoride varnish) that kids can choose from.
🍎After every visit, older children receive a coin they can use to pick out a prize from our treasure tower, and infants get a special tube toy to play with.
