Following dental school, Dr. Martinez followed his passion for providing dental care to children and people with special needs by completing his pediatric dental residency training at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in New York City. There he received extensive training in all aspects of pediatric dentistry including sedation and hospital dentistry.
Innumerable studies and research have concluded on the importance of starting children early in their lives with good dental hygiene and oral care. According to research, the most common chronic childhood disease in America is tooth decay, affecting 50 percent of first-graders and 80 percent of 17-year-olds. Early treatment prevents problems affecting a child’s health, well-being, self-image, and overall achievement.
At Big Apple Pediatric Dentistry we offer a wide array of services for your child that include:
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that you child visits the dentist for a check-up and cleaning every six months.
Radiographs (or X-Rays) are an essential part of our diagnostic protocol. Without them, dental conditions may go undetected.
Your child will be evaluated to make sure both his/her gums and teeth are healthy, and ensure no oral disease is present.
Fluoride can be thought of as a “glue” that keeps the molecules of our teeth more tightly bound together and less prone to breaking apart.
Laughing gas is the common term for Nitrous Oxide. This is a safe and mild method used during dental procedures and can help children relax and be less nervous.
At Big Apple Pediatric Dentistry, we know that some children have individual needs that may require extra care during dental procedures.

Pediatric dentists take additional two to three years to focus exclusively on the oral health, growth and development of children. Just like a pediatrician is a doctor specific for children, a pediatric dentist is a dentist specific for children and adolescents.
Dr. Martinez is specifically trained and certified as a pediatric dentist to provide the highest quality oral health care for ages 21 and under.
Not all pediatric dentists are certified by American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD). The ABPD board certification indicates that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary 2-part examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite to the delivery of quality patient care.
Dentists certified through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) hold the highest possible credentials within the field of pediatric dentistry. Dr. Martinez strives to provide the best oral care for your child and this board certification is a testament to his dedication.
